AV moves quickly, and what guests expect on site keeps shifting. These are five areas we are actually specifying on jobs in Melbourne right now, with a short note on why each one matters.

  1. Hybrid event setups

Hybrid is baseline now, not a bolt-on extra. We plan a dedicated stream mix, microphones that pick up room questions cleanly, and time in the run sheet for remote presenters. People online should hear every word as clearly as the room does.

  1. Proper live streams

That means switched cameras, audio tied properly into the encoder, and internet we have tested before show time. Grainy phone feeds and dropouts read as unprofessional fast, so we treat the stream like part of the show, not an afterthought.

  1. Audience interaction that actually works

Live polls, moderated Q&A, and clear instructions for remote guests stop the stream feeling like a one-way broadcast. The tech only helps if the host knows the flow and we have tested handovers in rehearsal.

  1. Greener choices where it is practical

LED fixtures, sensible power distribution, and less single-use cabling and tape add up over a season. Clients are asking for it, and it often saves headaches on site as well.

  1. Immersive tech when the brief suits it

AR overlays, LED volumes, and VR activations can be brilliant when the idea is solid. They are not mandatory for every event. Where we use them, we keep technical risk low so the production supports the story instead of fighting it.
